Clinical Counselor

Rory is passionate about the healing power of Art, dance, horses, and nature.  Before attending graduate school, Rory worked for seven years creating and implementing therapeutic arts and nature-based community programs for youth in crisis in Santa Cruz, CA.  The programs aimed to provide direct services, resources, and support to youth survivors of domestic violence and community violence.  Additionally, Rory helped to develop and present violence prevention curriculum, sexual health education, and include LGBTQ diversity to middle and high schoolers, and teachers and care providers across the county.  These efforts led him to collaborate with local horse ranch and rescue organizations which gave him the opportunity to first witness the healing magic of horses.  Rory enrolled in graduate school at JFKU's Holistic Counseling Psychology program to learn and research about Expressive Arts and Somatic approaches to treating trauma-related mental health issues.  I just finished a year long clinical internship working with youth transitioning out of hospitalization for mental health crisis including self harm and suicidality.
